Increasing investment in active GRID bots

The “Add funds” feature increases the investment of your GRID bot without adding new levels or restarting the bot. This way, you can edit your trading strategy without pausing your trading and losing the bot's current statistics.

In this article, you will learn how you can enable the “Add funds” feature and how increasing the investment affects your bot, trading balance, and other automation.

Note
The “Add Funds” option is available for GRID and BTD bots in the Active status.

Increasing the bot investment

If you want to adjust your bot investment, follow these step-by-step instructions:

1. Select your bot and click on the plus icon next to the Current value column:

Or click on the [Bot Actions] button and choose the [Add Funds] option:

2. You will see a modal window where you can check and edit:

  • Amount - the amount of additional investment, which can be set in absolute or percentage values;
  • Available for investment - the balance available to increase the investment;
  • Current investment - the current investment amount;
  • New investment - approximate size of the future investment, taking into account the added funds.

3. When you are ready to proceed with the changes, click the [Confirm] button to increase your bot investment.

The system will cancel the open bot orders, recalculate their size, and place new orders according to the new settings.

Adding funds and bot data

Increasing the bot investment will change both the original investment amount and the current bot funds. The bot's ability to execute trades and follow its strategy could also be impacted.

Once you add more funds to the bot, all percentage metrics (Bot profit, Avg. daily, Total PNL, etc.) may be recalculated, taking into account the new investment and the bot's current value.

Adjusting the bot investment does not influence its grid settings (grid step, number of grid levels, High and Low price, etc.). However, the average order size of your bot will increase.

Here is an example of how increasing the investment works on the following BTC/USDT GRID Bot.

Before the changes, the approximate bot order size was around 105 USDT. To calculate that, we need to multiply the order Amount, BTC, by the order Price - 0.00219 BTC x 47706.92 USDT = 104.478 USDT:

If we add funds with the approximate value of 5000 USDT to the bot, the bot order size will become 205 USDT - 0.0043 BTC x 47706.92 USDT = 205.134 USDT:

Note
If your bot has Super Sell orders placed by the Trailing Down feature, these orders will not be affected in any way when increasing the investment.

Before you increase your investment

Increasing the investment of a trading bot is a major change that can significantly affect its operation. Adding funds to the bot can affect your balance and the performance of other bots. Therefore, before making such changes, you should carefully weigh all factors to ensure the effective operation of your trading strategy.

Adding funds and trading balance

In order to increase your bot investment, you would need to have:

  • available base and/or quote currency for a GRID Bot;
  • available base currency for a BTD Bot.

If your available balance is insufficient to add funds to the bot, the system will request increasing the additional investment and specify the lowest possible value:

To top up your available balance, use the Trading page to purchase more base or quote currency.

Attention
If the market price fluctuates drastically when adding an investment, the amount of funds to purchase the required base currency can change. This may affect rearranging your grid, and some orders may not be placed.

Adding funds and canceled orders

On rare occasions, your bot orders may get canceled due to exchange issues or manual cancellation. In this case, the currency used in these orders gets released to the available balance.

If the bot has canceled orders, these orders will be restored with a new volume when increasing its investment.

Adding funds and other bots

When adding funds to the bot, the system will suspend trailing for all active GRID Bots. This measure prevents the available balance from being used by other bots. In addition, when the system is increasing the bot’s investment, there is no option to add funds, modify, or stop other GRID Bots with the same base or quote currency. Once your bot’s investment is adjusted, you can proceed with changing or closing other GRID Bots.

The “Add funds“ function is a convenient tool that allows you to easily customize your trading strategy on the go. Increasing the investment can affect the bot statistics, trading balance, and the operation of other bots. So, we recommend you monitor your bot and pay attention to other automation that has the same base or quote currency or the Trailing Up and Trailing Down features enabled while utilizing the "Add funds" option.
