How to create and set up Poloniex API key

In this article, we will show you how to create, configure, and connect your Poloniex API key to the Bitsgap platform.

Bitsgap is a trading platform that allows you to work with numerous cryptocurrency exchanges from a unified interface with access to additional tools that are not available on the exchange.

All trading operations are created and processed by using an exchange API key which is unique for every user. An API key is a safe and reliable way to use a platform because it does not give access to your personal data and prevents any funds management (withdrawals & deposits).

1. Log in to Poloniex

Log in to your Poloniex account or create a new one.

2. Go to the Profile page

From the top bar, navigate to your profile icon and proceed to the Profile page.

3. Go to the API keys page

Click on the API keys tab on the top panel.

4. Create a new API key

To create a new API key, please click the [Create API] button.

5. Match API key permissions

Edit your permissions as in the example below. These permissions will allow us to read your history, current balance and process trades on your exchange account.

Here is the list of required permissions:

  1. Trading - on.
  2. Withdrawals - off.
  3. IP Access Restrictions - Unrestricted.
  4. When ready, click [Next].

6. Pass the security verification

You will receive an email from Poloniex with a code. Paste it in the security verification window and click [Submit].

7. Copy your API key and Secret key

Your Poloniex trading key is successfully created and ready to be connected to our platform! Please, copy your API key and Secret key somewhere safe before you add it to Bitsgap.

8. Go to Bitsgap > My Exchanges

Log in to your Bitsgap account and go to the My Exchanges page. Click [Add new exchange].

9. Select Poloniex exchange and enter your API info

From the pop-up window, you need to select Poloniex. This will open a window where you can add your API key and Secret key, then click [Connect].

10. Connection check

If everything is done correctly, you will see Poloniex added to the list of your connected exchanges with the Connected status and the trading balance available on your account.
